Time to change things up and go for a new look on the blog. I was feeling a more simplistic look was in order for a while.
Before you go … here’s a sweet picture to bring a smile to your day.
Christmas is my favorite holiday!
I love all the festivities, lights, and good feelings, but I have never tried to do an advent calendar with treats and activities. That always sounded like way too much work for me even though it sounded like fun. This year I thought of all the things we would be doing anyways and realized I could put something together. For me, however, I would need to simplify the process! Here is what I came up with for our December Activities:
Just a simple gift bag with a paper snowflake paper clipped to it. The backs of the snowflakes are numbered for each day until Christmas. Each morning the kids pull out a piece of paper with the day’s activity on it. This allows for the next day’s activity to be decided the night before … I need this flexibility.
Most activities will be simple. For instance, today our activity is “Go to the library and read a Christmas book”. It just so happens that I found out that today our library would be having a harpist! 🙂
Today marks two months since JJ came into our lives. Daily life is a blur of mundane contentedness. Grocery shopping and making meals. Making sure everyone gets a bath. Laundry. So much laundry. Never ending messy house.
It is a slower pace of life with a newborn. I do not mind. It helps me to slow down and cherish my kids and how they live life at this age. Cherish the precious sweetness of a tiny helpless baby. Cherish the infectious laughter of children playing together (along with the tears). I can barely remember Kiki as a baby so I know in a blink of an eye another five years will have flown by me.
For now I will enjoy every leave pile we can make and tummy time … and ignore the toys covering the living room floor and trailing down the hallway. 🙂
This week is that “Put-off Project”. I have a lot of them, but one of the most pressing was the living room. Here is what it looked like and, believe me, these pictures show it looking better than it did!
It took a few days but finally got it looking closer to what I envision for an environment conducive to learning, exploring, and having fun.
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at what I have been collecting over the past two months of stuff to get rid of, shred box started, and a few things still left to go through.
